Will planning

Before you begin

Practical starting points—not a substitute for legal or tax advice.

  1. 01

A clear Will can reduce uncertainty and make your intentions easier to understand.

  2. 02

For assets in more than one country, coordinate every Will with qualified cross-border legal and tax advisers so the documents do not conflict.

  3. 03

A Trust may help in some circumstances, but its suitability depends on your family, assets, tax position, and jurisdiction.

  4. 04

A lifetime Gift can be irrevocable and may require acceptance, stamp duty, registration, tax review, and independent legal advice.

  5. 05

Use a Codicil only for limited, localized amendments. It cannot replace the Witnesses who attested the original Will; extensive changes require a fresh Will.

  6. 06

A Living Will concerns future medical decisions. It does not distribute property or other assets.
